It was good and bad news for the Lithgow Golf Club pennant sides with their Masters side remaining undefeated to take out the Blue Mountains title while the Senior side finished runners-up in their final.

After the finals were postponed due to the weather both sides had their problems fielding their top sides.

The Masters team went into their final match at Wentworth Falls without the services of two of their best Greg Hunter due to medical issues and Ian Downey who was unavailable on the day but still had enough fire power to win over Oberon.

The win saw them first past the post with the Wentworth Falls No 1 side coming in second.

Lithgow defeated Oberon 4-2 with the winners being captain Max Nightingale, Jeff Geddes, Paul Bosman and Gary Keen.

Those that had represented the champion team throughout the tournament have been: Ian Downey, Greg Hunter, Max Nightingale, Jeff Geddes, Don Farnsworth, Dave Titcome, Paul Bosman, Greg Guest, Gary Keen and Geoff Brooks.

Team captain Max Nightingale said: “It was a good effort going through undefeated to win our third title in a row.
“Our side has a lot of depth and even though the majority of players had to give their opponents shots each round we still come up trumps.”

The Senior pennant side also played their final at Wentworth Falls against Springwood and were without their number one player Ian Nightingale who had to pull out due to a back injury.

The Seniors went down 3.5 to 2.5 to finish runners-up.

Winners were Steve Hall and Darren Hunter while Ross Harrington drew his match.

Those to represent the Lithgow side were Ian Nightingale, Andrew Burton, Darren Hunter, Ross Harrington, Johnathan Van Veen, Steve Hall, Scott Hamment, Bill Oldfield and Anthony Boza.

The Club would like to congratulate both sides on their impressive seasons.
