Golf for 2018 is back in full swing for the Ladies at Lithgow Golf Club, although the course is exceptionally dry playing numbers have been very good.
The BMDLGA pennant series commenced two weeks ago but unfortunately no play to date, round one was postponed due to the severe downpour of rain on the Sunday and Monday and last Monday round two was postponed because of the dense fog that enshrouded Blackheath Golf course. Hopefully third time lucky as Monday’s game is scheduled for Lithgow. The team comprises of Olwyn King, Sue Brooks, Di McGuire, Marie Hackett and Narelle Potts best wishes to these players.
Last Saturday a stableford was played and Patty Aidulis was the winner with 38 points. Nearest the Pin, sponsored by Neville Kerrison, was won by Malva McDonald.
The Lady Golfers are thrilled to again have Helloworld sponsoring their Monthly medal event and sincere thanks to Robyn Featherstone for her sponsorship. The monthly medals were played recently and the winner in 1st Division was Di McGuire with 75 nett whilst in 2nd Division, new Member, Jennifer Wild won with 70 nett. Jennifer has recently returned to playing golf after a very lengthy layoff, it will not take long for her to reduce her handicap. Marie Hackett won nearest the pin with a great shot of 20cms.
Last Wednesday a three person stableford was played with trophies provided by Pat Livermore, Judy Charman and Patty Aiduis and the winners with 68 points were Marie Hackett, Jennifer Wild and Judy Fegebank, again nearest the pin was won by Marie Hackett. Runners up were Judy Moore, Sue Brooks and Carol Osborne.
Due to the extreme dryness of the golf course the Ladies have postponed their Open Day till later in the year. It is hoped that the recently received rains may help the grass growth somewhat.
Lithgow Golf Club is again participating in the programme of Get into Golf for Seniors so if there is anyone who would like to have a crack at learning give the Golf Club a call on 63513164. Initially there will be 6 coaching lessons with the Professional followed by playing a few holes. Further details will be advertised when the dates are confirmed.
