The Lithgow Golf Club’s All Age Championship held over two rounds was concluded with a scratch and a handicap event held for golfers in their respective age category. The Age Championships gives golfers a chance to play against other golfers around their same age. Those who took out the titles showed consistency over the two rounds with some good scores recorded.
The category winners in scratch and handicap sequence is as follows:
39 years and under: Harry Bender 150 and Lachlan Roach 141 nett.
40 years to 49: Justin McCann 146 and Brendan Roach 147 nett.
50 years to 59 years: Darren Hunter 143 and Troy Luka 144 nett.
60 years to 69 years: Brian Judge 156 and Max Nightingale 148 nett.
70+ years: Dave Titcume 163 and Jeff Geddes 144 nett.
Saturday’s event was a single stableford medley played on a course that had been saturated during the week with heavy rain causing closure of the course on Thursday and Friday. The fairways were very soft making the course play very long with the weather cold and windy. The only two golfers managed to break their handicap with Mark Seckold (23) and Justin Nelson (scratch) recording rounds of 37 points. Nelson had an outstanding round considering the tough conditions to take out the A grade section. He again showed his consistency with a round of 71 off the stick that featured two birdies, one bogey and the rest pars.
Runner up to Nelson was Travis Cameron (6) with a score of 35 points on a countback.
The winner of B grade was Lachlan Roach (11) with a score of 34 points with Roach coming home strongly with 19 points.
Two back on 32 points was runner up Corey Osborne who again made it into the placings.
The winner in C grade was Mark Seckold (23) who showed the benefits of playing regular golf during the week.
He too had an excellent back nine amassing 20 points.
Runner up was Carol Burton (30) who is showing improvement in all facets of her game.
Vouchers went to Andrew Burton, Glenn Piggott, Troy Luka, Gary Wallace, Ken Durie, Christine Peachman, Mitchell Wallace, Dave Titcum, Paul Bosman and Harry Bender. Cut was 32 points ocb.
Nearest to the pins were: 2nd Greg Guest 88cms; 4th Brandan Horner 330cms; 9th Ryan Gurney 300cms; 13th Neil Hutchinson 230cms and Andrew Burton 48cms.
Saturday’s event will be a stroke with the monthly medals held in conjunction.
Wednesday PFD Food Services nine hole event:
Winner was Ken Durie on 18 points with Durie also taking out the nearest to the pin.
Vouchers went to Ken Mitchell and Rob Peachman.
