A very large field was greeted with a Lithgow golf course shrouded in fog for the contesting of the monthly medals sponsored by Henry’s Plant and Equipment Hire.
Once again it was tough going with the course playing extremely long due to a week of rain that made the fairways soggy.
Only five golfers managed to break their handicap which was an excellent feat in itself.
After a big day of golf with only one of the three medals decided with the B and C grade medals to be played for in conjunction with the June medals.
The winner of the A grade voucher and the medal was Brett Scanlan (9) with a consistent round that finished with a score of 74 nett. Runner up was Kobe Hunter (5) on 75 nett with his round featuring an excellent back nine of 36 strokes.
Best scratch score went to Steve Hall (+1) with a score of 74.
A countback was needed to determine the B grade winner with Jason Murray (13) counting out Ryan Gurney (13) after both golfers finishing with 69 nett. The pair will now play off for the medal next month but Murray did secure a medal after he won a play off for last month’s medal.
It was exciting times in C grade with young Lachlan Drury (36) winning the voucher after counting out another promising junior in Riley Cameron(33). Both played excellent golf to finish with 69 nett and they too will play off for the medal next month. It was a proud club manager with Natasha on hand to witness her son Lachlan who is a newcomer to Saturday competition and winning his first grade win. There is a number of talented juniors playing competition golf and it is exciting times for these youngsters and the club. Best scratch score went to another junior in Brodie Carter (20) who carded a round of 94.
