It did not get any easier for the good field that turned out for the Lithgow Golf Club’s versus par event who had to contend with strong freezing winds, soggy fairways, slick greens and thick smoke that blew across the course from the Go Kart burn off.
Only two golfers played under their handicaps again showing just how tough it was. The best two scores came out of B and C grade with Ryan Gurney (10) coming home strong over the back nine with a +2 to card a 18 hole score of +1. Runner up to Gurney in B grade was Brodie Carter (18) three back on -2.
Winner of C grade was the other handicap breaker Glenn Piggott (27) on +1. Piggott was a member of the scramble team that won their way to the finals and is sure to cut his handicap down the more he plays. Runner up was Kieran Gajula (19) with a score of -1 and continues his good recent form.
Blake Goldspink (3) took out A grade with a score of square. It was an impressive round considering he teed off early in the coldest part of the day that saw sub minus temperatures. Runner up was one of the most consistent golfers in the club with Dave Titcume (5) finishing with -1. Vouchers went to those with -4 and better and they were Bill Oldfield, Travis Cameron, Brandan Horner, Corey Osborne, Max Nightingale, Les Goldspink and Troy Luka.
Nearest to the pins were: 2nd Brandan Horner (550cms) and 9th (316cms); 4th Travis Cameron (140cms) 13th Paul Bosman (231cms) and 18th Justin McCann (364cms).
