It was a good day to be a Cameron with Travis and son Riley taking out two of the three monthly medals at the Lithgow Golf Club with the medals again sponsored by Henry’s Plant and Equipment Hire. The third medal went to Greg Guest.
It was a huge day at the club with one of the biggest fields for some time enjoying good conditions and two large social groups of visitors. One visitor said: “I had heard good things about the Lithgow Course and we were all very impressed. “Friendly staff, excellent food, the course is very picturesque with excellent greens and beautiful wildlife.”
The star of the day was C grade’s Riley Cameron (29) who showed that last week’s win was no fluke. In last week’s stableford Riley who was playing off a handicap of 31 recorded a score of 43 points.
The handicapper knocked two shots off but it did not stop him finishing with the best nett score of the day off his new handicap with a brilliant 63 nett — five better than the rest of the field to win the medal. His score was even more impressive considering he posted a 10 on the par 4 eighth hole. Riley added another medal to his collection when he also won the May medal play off. C grade runner up was another promising junior with Ben Achurch (25) after scoring a 68 nett. Best scratch score went to Brodie Carter (20) with a 90.
Travis Cameron (7) is trying to keep up with son Riley’s success, but he too secured a medal and a win in A grade. He played consistent golf to post two nines of 39 strokes to give him a 71 nett.
Runner up was Damien Marjoram (2) on 72 nett and the best scratch score went to Darren Hunter (1) with a 76.
Winner of the B grade voucher and medal was club president Greg Guest (13) with a 68 nett. Runner up was Max McCann (10) with a 74 nett while the best scratch score went to Ryan Gurney (10) with a 85. Gurney did finish up with a medal after winning the May play off.
Vouchers went to Cameron Hann, Jai Osborne, Anthony Boza, Kobe Hunter, Gary Wallace, Lachlan Drury, Troy Luka, Dave Titcume, Leo Murnane and Carol Burton. Cut was 76 nett on a countback.
Nearest to the pins were: 2nd Dave Titcume (127xms); 4th Troy Luka (172cms); 9th Damien Marjoram (130cms); 13th Graham Dean (275cms) and 18th Les Goldspink (192cms).
PFD Foods Wednesday nine hole competition:
Winner was Ken Mitchell on 15 points counting out runner up Steve Little.
Friday Central West Leak Detection nine hole competition:
Winner on 21 points was Michael Saville.
Runner up was Paul Stewart on 17 points on a countback from third placed Kobe Hunter.
Vouchers went to Adrian Sharp and Aaron Manton. Nearest the pin was Ashton Hunter.
