The conditions over the past couple of months have really tested golfers at the Lithgow Golf Club with sodden fairways that offer no ‘run’ and frosty greens that are very quick. The conditions did not worry the winners of the two ball aggregate event with Adrian Sharp (13) and John Bird (7) combining for an excellent score of 74 points which was eight points better than their nearest rivals. Both are very long off the tee and they took full advantage of their length to be the only two golfers to play to their handicap.
Sharp had a big front nine scoring 22 points with his round of 38 points featuring three birdies that were four points hole for him. Bird was consistent with nines of 19 and 17 points for his 36 points.
Runners up were two of the club’s low markers in Troy Luka (2) and Steve Hall (+2). The pair were early morning players and had to contend with the rock hard frosty greens but they showed their experience to come up with a combined score of 66 points.
A single event was held in conjunction and the winner was Brad Preston (18) with the good score of 35 points. Runner up on 33 points was Dean Stafford (10) who after posting 13 points on the front nine found form over the back nine to register 20 points.
Vouchers went to Don Wolfenden, Max Nightingale, Jeff Geddes, Lachlan Roach, Leo Murnane, Ian Downey, Harry Bender, Anthony Oldfield and Cameron Fortunr. The cut was 61 points.

It will be a big day of golf this Saturday when the club holds their Winter Cup sponsored by Drummond Golf Penrith.
