Every school holidays it is normal to see young golfers figure in the winning lists as they spend hours with their friends playing and practicing. Two of the club’s promising young golfers Lachlan Drury (32) and Ben Achurch (22) have been regulars on the fairways and combined to win Saturday’s two ball best ball. Both have been in the winning lists over the past month and have a big future in the game of golf.
Lachlan was the ‘main man’ in the team with a personal score of 39 points and played consistent golf over both nines. Achurch was also prominent with some good holes when needed. The runners up on 44 points were Rod Bright (5) and John Bird (7) who have also been in good form of late having combined to win the two ball event only two weeks ago. Bright is capable of low scores with his power game and finished with a score of 35 points while Bird was just as impressive with consistent good golf.
The best scratch score of the day went to Greg Jackson (9) with a score of 44 points that featured a great front nine of 22 points. Runner up was Mike Saville (11) with a score of 37 points and was one of only three that broke their handicaps among a large field.
Vouchers went to Brandan Horner, Brian Judge, Brodie Carter, Jai Osborne, Luke Brown, Josh Howarth, Paul Stewart, Cameron Hann, Mark Seckold, Chris Keller and Dave Thompson. Vouchers cut out on 40 point ocb.
Nearest to the pins went to: 2nd Hole Ian Downey (101cms); 4th Mitchell Wallace (390cms); 9th Mike Saville (146cms); 13th Darren Hunter (332cms) and the 18th Dave Thompson (150cms).
This Saturday’s event will be the July monthly medals.
Wednesday Sparks Finance nine hole competition:
Winner was Wayne Morris on 19 points counting out runner up Dave Warren. In third place was Chris Goodsell on 18 points.
Vouchers went to Paul Bailey and Stephen Little. Cut was 15 points ocb. Nearest to the pin on the ninth went to the winner Wayne Morris (391cms) and Stephen Little was best on the 18th (179cms).
Friday’s Central West Leak Detection nine hole competition:
Chris Keller was in top form with a winning score of 20 points.
Runner up was Brandan Horner on 19 points counting our Brodie Carter into third place.
Dave Thompson and Ken Durie took out vouchers. Cut was 17 points ocb. Nearest the pin was Don Farnsworth (90cms). Don Farnsworth (90cms).
