The sun was hot … as was the scoring in the Lithgow Golf Club’s two person multiplier event which attracted a field of 90 competitors. Twenty nine golfers either broke or played to their handicaps taking advantage of the manicured greens and ‘run’ on the dry fairways which played a big part in the scoring. It was a ‘knockout win’ to Joanne Banning (19) and Deanna Goodsell (28) who finished a massive 18 points ahead of the field.
The duo has enjoyed great success playing together during their hockey careers and again the pair combined to perfection to amass a score of 101 points. Banning had a big day scoring the most personal points of the day with 46 points which included three birdies. Her back nine was special scoring 24 points and she had great support from Goodsell who had a personal score of 38 points.
The runners up Mitchell Wallace (6) and his uncle Dennis Wallace (7) could not be blamed if they had thought that they had done enough to take out the main voucher when they came in with the big score of 83 points, a score that would win this type of event on most days. The pair came home strongly over the back nine with Mitchell scoring 24 points (two under par 34) in his 18 hole score of 42 points that included three birdies. Dennis also had a big back nine scoring 21 points and it was a top score by the pair considering both a low markers.
