It was another huge field who contested a stroke event and the Henry Plant & Equipment Hire Pty Ltd January monthly medals on what was a scorching day at the Lithgow Golf Club. For those walking it was a real ordeal and for those in carts although still extremely hot they were still a bonus.
The monthly medals in (A, B and C grades) were won by Blake Bender, Michael Saville and Robert George respectfully.
The winner of the A grade stroke voucher was Blake Bender (3) with an outstanding 70 nett which consisted of nines of 36 and 37 for a one over par 72. Bender is never far away from the winners list and is a consistent performer. Runner up Blake Goldspink (5) finished one behind Bender with a 71 nett. He played excellent golf posting two nines of 38. Best A grade scratch score went to Justin Nelson (1) whose bright yellow cart which has recently been resprayed and was bright as the sun and his score as 73 off the stick.
Michael Saville (12) was in great form to take out B grade with a score of 65 nett which was the equal best nett score of the day.
He secured his win with an excellent back nine of 37 off the stick which was a top effort considering the hot conditions. Runner up on 67 nett was club president Greg Guest (11). He also came home strongly with a score of 37 over the back nine. Ryan Gurney (10) had the best B grade scratch score with 78.
Once again the women dominated C grade with the winner being Leonie Hughes (33) with the equal best nett score of the day with an impressive 65 nett. Two back on 67 nett was Deanna Goodsell (28) who was a winner last Saturday and has been in good form in recent weeks. Best scratch score went to Rob George with 88.
Vouchers went to Brad Preston, Kyle Egan, Les Goldspink, Neil Hutchinson, Graeme Osborne, Brodie Carter, Josh Howarth, Geoff Wheeler, Scott Achurch, Gary Wallace, Rod Clarke, Max Nightingale, Harry Roach, Heidi Inwood and Brian Judge. Cut was 71 nett.
Nearest to the pins were: 2nd Blake Bender (80cms); 4th Heidi Inwood (198cms); 9th Brodie Carter (99cms); 13th Kim Burton (50cms) and 18th Ryan Gurney (228cms).
A two person ambrose was held on Australia Day which was well attended with the winning team being Josh Jones and Corey Osborne with a score of 59.75 nett. Runners up were Troy Luka and David Marshall on 62. The pair really excel in ambrose and are always high up on the placings. Vouchers went to Kel Lampton, Steven Little, Ryan Gurney, Dallas Tilley, Mitchell Luka, Greg Jackson, Max Nightingale, Damien Marjoram and Brendan and Harry Roach. Nearest to the pin was Lleyton Guest.
Best 9 Hole Competition – Winner was Brian Judge with a score of 25 points. Runner up was Matt Dickson on 24 points.
Vouchers went to Wayne Morris and Mark Seckold. Cut was 21 points ocb.
Nearest to the pins were Ross Harrington and Chris Goodsell.
The GA 18 hole Wednesday competition was won by Jonathan Van Veen on 34 points counting out runner up Brett Scanlon.
Winner was Kevin Hughes with a score of 26 points.
Runner up was Greg Guest on 22 points with third place going to Michael Casey on 21 points.
Vouchers went to Ashton Hunter, Mark Bennett, Corey Osborne and David Spillane. Cut was 19 nett ocb.
Next Saturday’s event (Feb 7) will be a two ball best ball.
