Just when most thought that the wind had subsided it came back with a force to test the back half of a large field who were playing in the Lithgow Golf Club’s stableford event.
There were some excellent scores posted by the placegetters with none better than keen golfer Carlos Garibotto (13). He took out the B grade section with a score of 42 points, five better than his nearest rival. Garibotto was on fire over the front nine carding 25 points following a par nine 36 strokes. Runner up on 37 was Robert Peachman (16).
The C grade winner was Julie Rosewarne (39) continuing her streak of wins and runner up finishes over the past couple of months.
Rosewarne finished with a score of 41 points coming home over the back nine with the good score of 22 points.C grade was dominated by the women with Christine Peachman (25) making it a good day for the Peachman family after she was counted out by the winner after her and Rosewarne finished on 41 points.
The winner of A grade was club captain Chris Keller (6) with a score of 39 points. Keller was consistent throughout on the slick greens with nines of 37 and 38 for a three over 75 to give him 39 points.
Runner up with the best Scratch score of the day was Steve Hall (scratch) when he finished with 37 points.Hall had a brilliant front n ine shooting a three under 33 off the stick again showing what a talent he is.
Vouchers went to Travis Cameron, Leonie Hughes, Mitchell Wallace, Troy Luka, Carol Burton, David Thompson, Anthony Oldfield, Kim Flynn, Andrew Burton, Steven Mays, Paul Bosman, Luke Carpenter, Rodney Clarke, James Bennett, Warren Kennedy, Dave Hicks and Dave Warren. Cut was 33 points ocb.
Nearest to the pins were: 2nd Les Goldspink (114cms); 4th Dave Thompson (160cms); 9th Chris Keller (138cms); 13th Dennis Wallace (290cms) and 18th Paul Bosman (230cms).
Saturday’s event will be a two ball best ball.

It was good to see golfers take the opportunity to team up with other members of their families with a good day being had by all.

Runner up on a countback was Brian Quick on 20 points from third placed Ken Mitchell.
