Last Wednesday the Ladies’ played the final of the Gold Medal. Each monthly medal winner, in 2 divisions, is entitled to contest the Gold Medals at the end of the year.
Both divisions required handicap reducing scores to win the prize. In 1st Division Olwyn King returned a fine score of 67 nett to win her division and the 2nd division winner was Robyn Houlison with a great score of 65 nett. Congratulations to both players. The overall winner of the trophy provided by Rhonda Thompson was Robyn. Ball competition winners were Carol Burton 69, Lynne Ritchie, Julie Rosewarne and Kim Burton all with 71 nett.
Fridays 9 hole event was a stroke round and the winner was Lynne Ritchie with 32 ½ nett. Balls won by Robyn Houlison 34 ½ nett and Julie Rosewarne 37 ½ nett.
Recently there have been comments about the playing of the Mixed Foursomes Championships through the week. About 12 years ago the Board introduced a weekday category of membership. As the women had no Saturday competition at that time the majority elected to join the weekday category. In order for the Mixed Foursomes to continue the event had to be changed to a weekday. The fact of the matter is that the number of women available dictate the make-up of the field. All players who indicated they were available this year played in the event.
Wednesday 26th is a Par event for Kim Burton Trophy.
