The hard dry Lithgow fairways suited the grade winners and runners up in Saturdays stableford event with all the scores over 40 points. The weather was good and it was great to see golfers warm up in the newly constructed practice nets before teeing off.
It was a profitable week for Mitchell Luka (7) who enjoyed a week of excellent golf winning on three occasions. It started on the New Years Day in the two person ambrose when he joined with Craig McManus for a win. He then won the GA Wednesday 18 hole competition and on Saturday took out the A grade stableford with a score of 41 points. Playing consistent golf he recorded nines of 21 and 20 points to count out runner up Darren Hunter (scratch).
Hunter was in superb form shooting 67 off the stick after getting away to a great start with a four under par 32.
The best stableford score of the day came out of B grade with Brad Preston (18) amassing 43 points. His back nine was outstanding with 23 points being scored to set up his win. Runner up was Josh Jones (13) with a good score of 40 points.
The hot scoring continued in C grade with Neil Hutchinson (20) recording 42 points to edge out runner up Leonie Hughes (33) who was one back on 41 points.
Vouchers went to Lachlan Roach, Ben Achurch, Kim Burton, Carol Osborne, Max Nightingale, Damien Marjoram, Kim Burton, Paul Bosman, Andrew Burton, Travis Cameron, Don Wolfenden, Stephen Little, Dave Muir, Ian Downey, Kiran Gajula and Troy Luka. The cut was 36 points on a countback.
Nearest to the pins were: 2nd Rod Clarke (149cms); 4th Mitchell Luka 22cms); 9th Kel Lampton (137cms); 13th Kiran Gajula (192cms) and18th Travis Cameron (550cms).
New Years Day two person ambrose:
Golfers took to the fairways on the first day of the year with the ambrose winners being Mitchell Luka and Craig McManus who joined together to win with a score of 63.5 nett which was good scoring as both a low markers and were up against many with higher handicaps. Runners up were Zach Jones and Warren Stevens on 63 nett.
Vouchers went to chase and Max Nightingale, Brian Judge and Mark Seckold and Ryan Jarvis and Brett Nightingale. Cut was 65.5 nett.
Nearest to the pins were Don Wolfenden and Craig McManus.
Wednesday Sparks Finance – Mortgage Broker Lithgow nine hole competition:
Winner was Ben Sabat on 24 points.
Runner up was Kevin Hughes on 22 points and in third place on 21 points was Jeff Geddes.
Vouchers went to Brandan Horner, Wayne Morris and Craig Pugsley. Cut was 20 points.
The the GA 18 hole competition went to Mitch Luka on 37 who edged out his brother Troy on 36 points.
Nearest to the pins were Jeff Geddes and Brian Judge.
Friday Central West Leak Detection and Plumbing nine hole competition:
Winner was Paul Stewart with 23 points.
Runner up was Craig Holt on 22 points and in third place was Jai Osborne on 19 points.
Vouchers went to Greg Guest and Michael Saville.
Nearest to the pin was Anthony Boza.
Saturday’s event will be a two person stableford aggregate.
