It was a great day for golf with the Lithgow Golf Club holding a versus par event with the A grade winner Justin McCann (+1) enjoying a brilliant front nine that boasted five birdies. He added a further two on the back nine holes to post a winning score of +4 which is an amazing score by the reigning club champion considering his low handicap. Runner up was another reigning champion in Steve Mays(9) who won the B grade title last year and has since moved into A grade with his consistent good play each week. Mays was on fire over the front nine with +4 but cooled off on the back nine to finish with a score of +3.
Like Mays it was a tale of two nines for the B grade winner Paul Stewart (15) who went out in -2. He got his game together to come home with a score of +3 for an overall score of +1. Stewart counted out Kyle Eagan (10) with his good back nine with both golfers finishing with +1.
C grade went to a newcomer to competition golf with Anthony Brown (25) winning with a score of +3. Brown is a keen sportsman and has dabbled in cricket, Rugby League and rugby in his younger days and is now keen to try his skills at golf. Runner up was another excellent Lithgow sporting all rounder in Heidi Inwood (26) who is enjoying success at golf and finished her round with a score of even.
Vouchers went to Dave Thompson, Max McCann, Dave Titcume, Graham Dean, Carol Burton, Geoff Wheeler, Steve Hall, Rob Arnott, Carlos Garibotto, Graeme Osborne, Greg Jackson, Robert Peachman, Andrew Burton and Brad Preston. Vouchers cut was -2.
Nearest to the pins were: 2nd Rod Clarke (71cms); 4th Neil Hutchinson (323cms); 9th Anthony Brown (90cms); 13th Justin McCann (354cms) and 18th Graham Dean (99cms).
Monday Vets competition:
It was a good day for John Bird who was a clear win for John Bird who finished with a score of 41. His score was five better than the next best. Runner up was Paul Bosman on 36 points counting out third placed Dave Warren.
Vouchers went to Leonie Hughes, Brian Judge, Carol Osborne, Carlos Garibotto and Darren Healey. Cut was 34 points.
Nearest to the pins were Ken Mitchell and John Bird.
Wednesday Sparks Finance – Mortgage Broker Lithgownine hole competition:
Winner was Ian Townsend with 24 points.
Runner up on 20 points was Jeff Geddes who counted out third placed Brett Egan. Vouchers went to Ron Phelan and Chris Goodsell. Cut was 18 points.
The GA 18 holes competition was won by Dave Muir with 34 points from runner up Paul Bailey on 32 points.
Friday Central West Leak Detection and Plumbingnine hole competition:
Winner was Bryson Jones on 23 points.
Runner up was Michael Casey on 22 points counting out third placed Luke Brown.
Vouchers went to Harry Bender, Howie Fisher, Trent Young, Ian Downey and Michael Bennett. Cut was 19 points.
Nearest to the pin was Brian Judge.
Next Saturday’s event will be the February monthly medals.
