A field of 73 Lithgow golfers contested a single stableford and it was a race against the clock to finish with a storm predicted for around 1 pm and it was luckily that the black clouds passed by allowing the big field to enjoy a good days golf.
Scoring was again difficult following the constant rain over the past week which made the course play a lot longer than usual but there was a handful that adapted to the conditions with 13 golfers recording 36 points or better.
Anthony Oldfield (5) and Kobe Hunter (4) both had 74 off the stick and it was only Oldfield’s one shot handicap advantage that gave him the winning A grade voucher.
Oldfield finished with five birdies in his stableford score of 39 points while Hunter finished with four in his 38 points.
Young Jai Osborne (17) had a good day out taking out B grade with a score of 37 points.
Osborne had a good front nine of 20 points and then consolidated over the back nine with 17 points.
Runner up on a countback was the constant Michael Saville (10) who finished with a score of 36 points on a countback.
The best stableford score of the day came out of C grade with David May (22) finishing with the great score of 43 points.
May has been playing more golf of late and it is showing with his scores.
He had a great front nine of 23 points and did not slow down over the back nine with a further 20 points.
Runner up was Jim Heterick (21) with a score of 36 points.
Vouchers went to Chris Keller, Blake Goldspink, Darren Hunter, Harry Bender, Les Goldspink, Carlos Garibotto, Jeff Geddes, Brodie Carter, Geoff Thompson, Troy Luka, Corey Osborne, Rob Peachman, Dave Thompson, Greg Jackson, Bill Oldfield and Dave Titcume. Cut was 34 points ocb.
Nearest to the pins were: 2nd Leo Murnane (102 cms); 4th Blake Goldspink (226cms); 9th Lachlan Roach (170cms); 13th
Brodie Carter (280cms) and 18th Josh Jones (252cms).
It will be big weekend starting on Saturday with the staging of the 2026 club championships.
It will be a 72 hole event played over two weekend. There will be a stroke event on each day for those that can’t play all four rounds.
Monday Vets 18 hole competition:
Winner with a score of 37 points was Carlos Garibotto who took out the Lithgow Workies Club & Motel voucher with a score of 37 points.
Runner up was Steve Jennings on 36 points with third place on 35 points was Greg Guest.
Vouchers went to Paul Bailey, Steven Mays, Graeme Osborne and Darren Healey. Cut was 33 points ocb.
Wednesday Sparks Finance – Mortgage Broker Lithgow nine hole competition:
Winner on 19 points was Michael Casey.
Runner up was Juan Farmer on 18 points ocb.
Vouchers went to Jeff Geddes and Geoff Houlison. Cut was16 points ocb.
Nearest to the pins were Juan Farmer and Michael Casey.
The GA 18 hole competition was won by Phillip Turner on 38 points with Dave Warren Runner up on34 points.
Friday Central West Leak Detection and Plumbing nine hole competition:
Winner was Howie Fisher on 23 points.
Runner up on 22 points was Chris Goodsell on22 points with third place going to Michael Saville on 21 points.
Vouchers went to Chris Keller and Blake Goldspink. Cut was 19 points ocb. Nearest to the pin was Max Nightingale.
