The big events keep on coming at the Lithgow Golf Club with the March monthly medals sponsored by Henry Plant & Equipment Hire Pty Ltd last weekend following on from two weekends of club championship stroke play.
Good Friday will see a Best 9 Social Comp and then it will be back to the pressure golf again with the Easter Cup the following day.
The March monthly medals was played in early chilly weather that warmed up as the day progressed with the A, B and C grade medals going to David Thompson, Michael Saville and Graeme Osborne respectively.
The course was playing long following the recent storm that softened the fairways and with field playing off the back blue markers it was a difficult day for many with only five players breaking their handicaps.
Big hitting Dave Thompson (4) had no trouble getting to the greens taking advantage of his length off the tee to take out A grade with a two over par 74. He was in full control of his game with nines of 36 and 38 for a nett score of 70. Runner up was Josh Howarth (9) who has rocketed down the handicap ladder to make into A grade in quick time and finished with a nett score of 71.
The “People’s champion” Harry Bender (+1) coming off last week’s club championship win recorded the best scratch score with par 72.
The B grade voucher went to Michael Saville (11) finished with a nett score of 70 with his silky swing on display. Runner up Alan Mostyn (13) is a man in form and was coming off a good win at the Vets Monday event and continued his good play with a 71 nett.
Best nett score went to Corey Osborne (12) with a score of 83.
C grade saw Deanna Goodsell (25) continuing her good form of late but had to survive a countback to take out the winning voucher. The unlucky runner up was Graeme Osborne (19) whom also finished with 74 nett while the best scratch score went to Julie Murnane (21) with a score of 98.
Vouchers went to Kiran Gajula, Mitch Luka, Anthony Oldfield and Lachlan Roach. Cut was 74 nett ocb.
Nearest to the pins went to: 2nd hole Rob Peachman (208cms); 4th Jason Murray (199cms); 9th Travis Cameron (83cms); 13th Harry Bender (512cms) and 18th Brian Judge (552cms).
Lithgow Monday Stableford event:
There was a good roll up of Vets who enjoyed a good days golf followed by a tasty smorgasbord.
The winner with a very good score of 40 points was Alan Mostyn who took out the Lithgow Workies Club & Motel voucher.
Runner up was the consistent David Titcume with a score of 38 and in third place was Glenn Campbell on 37 points.
Vouchers went to Greg Guest, Phil Turner, Leo Murnane and Jeff Geddes. Cut was 35 points.
Nearest to the pins were Julie Murnane and Brian Judge.
The winner was Lachlan Drury with 20 points. Brian Judge was runner up on 19 points and in third place with 18 points was Steve Jennings.
Vouchers went to Craig Holt and Wayne Morris, Cut was 17 points.
Nearest to the pin was Mark Seckold.
The GA 18 hole competition was won but David Titcume with 35 points with the runner up being Carlos Garibotto on 33 points.
