Only eight golfers out of a big field of 79 played to their handicap or better in the Lithgow Golf Club’s single stableford event.
The rest of the field struggled on the tricky greens but the handful of those that made up the placings was left very happy with their day’s golf.
Another golfer that left the club very happy was Anthony Boza who took the Pro Pin on the 18th hole earning him $250 after his ball finished 50cms from the hole.
The A grade voucher winner was decided after a countback with Josh Howarth (😎 and Gary Wallace (5) both scoring 38 points.
Both golfers had strong back nines, but it was Howarth with 22 points edging out runner up Wallace by one point to take first place.
B grade went to Rob Hawes (10) with a score of 37 points and was the only player in B grade to break par.
Runner up was his playing mate Graham Dean (10) who finished three points back on 34 points.
The best stableford scores of the day came out of C grade with the Milne family dominating the placings. The best score of the day went to Connor Milne (30) who took the cash with the big score of 41 points. Runner up on 40 points was Shane Milne (14) who also scored well with 40 points.
Those to figure in the vouchers were Lachlan Roach, Steve Hall,Ross Harrington, Les Goldspink, Don Wolfenden, Anthony Boza, Ian Downey, David Marshall, Chris Keller, Anthony Oldfield, Harry Bender, Brad Preston, Kiran Gajula, Max Nightingale, Adrian Sharapova, Luke Brown, Craig McManus, Dave Warren, Nathan Marshall, Kyle Egan and Matt Dickson. Cut was 33 points on a countback.
Nearest to the pins were: 2nd hole Lachlan Roach (332); 4th Tony Oldfield (311); 9th Paul Bosman (58cms); 13th Rod Clarke (340cms) and the 18th Anthony Boza (50cms).
Saturday’s event will be a two ball best ball.
The Monday Lithgow Workies sponsored Vets Golf:
Winner of the $40 Lithgow Workies Club & Motel voucher was Don Wolfenden with a score of 39 points. Runner up was Ian Downey who counted out Max Nightingale into third place after both finished with 38 points.
Vouchers went to Dave Titcume, Phil Turner, Leo Murnane, Yrevor Cameron, Dave Warren and Carlos Garibotto. Cut was 35 points ocb.
Nearest to the pins were Ian Downey and Rob Peachman.
9 hole competition:
Winner with a score of 21 points was Jeff Geddes. Runner up was Mark Seckold on 20 points and Wayne Morris on 19 took this place.
Vouchers went to Heath Egan and Craig Pugsley. Cut was 17 points ocb.
Nearest to the pins were Geoff Houlison and Max Nightingale.
Paul Bailey was the winner of the GA 18 hole competition with a score of 39 points.
Winner was Brian Judge with 25 points. Runner up was the fair weather golfer Adrian Sharp with 21 points and in third spot was Ashton Hunter on 19 points ocb.
Dave Spillane and Brendan Horsfall won vouchers which cut out on 17 points ocb.
Nearest to the pin was Brian Judge.
