With the championships now behind them the women golfers settled back to the fun of weekly competitions with a good field contesting the August monthly medals. Golfers have the option of playing either on Saturday, August 29 or Wednesday, September 2 with the medals sponsored by Drummond Golf Penrith.
The first and second division winners continued on their run of success from the championships with the club champion and lowest handicapper in the club Joanne Banning (16) securing the first division medal with a score of 73 nett while the C grade champion Robyn Houlison (38) took out second division with the best score of the day a 69 nett. Both days were played in warm conditions with balls going to Kim Burton, Carol Burton and Lynne Ritchie. Balls cut out on 77 nett.
The Friday 9 hole also competition enjoyed a day where it was just good being out on Lithgow’s picturesque course. The competition is seeing a number of new players starting to join in this popular event and it is the perfect way to ease themselves into the bigger competitions. This week’s winner was Colleen McMahon (49) with the very good score of 23 points and she is keen to cut her handicap down.
