It’s been a tough year for Lithgow golfers who have had to contend with rain, soggy fairways, frosts and low temperature but on Saturday “Mother Nature” served up a day that really tested the big field with gale force winds that had the tall trees moving all over the place. The event was the monthly medals and the best nett score of the day came out of A grade with Damien Marjoram (3) once again excelling in medal days adding yet another to his collection that also boasts the coveted “gold” medal. He was one of the early golfers to tee off when the wind was not at its strongest but as the winds became more powerful Marjoram’s game got even better. He went out over the front nine scoring 36 off the stick and then finished the back nine with a two under par 34 to give him a 67 nett. Marjoram’s score was four better than the rest of the field with the runner up being Anthony Boza (4) with a score of 72 nett.
The best scratch score went to club champion Harry Bender (+1) with 76.
The B grade medal and winning voucher went to Josh Jones (16) with a score of 72 nett with the experienced Max McCann (11) runner up one back with a score of 73 nett. Best scratch score was Geoff Thompson (10) on a countback with a score of 84 nett.
