There were some blistering scores recorded during the Lithgow Golf Club’s short course stableford event with golfers hitting off the red tees which cut down the distance of the course immeasurably.
Handicaps were adjusted due to the length of the course and there was no better score than that recorded by A grade winner Troy Luka (2) who shot an amazing round of 67 off the stick giving him 43 points. Luka said that he has been off his game of late but got it all together on the weekend to post seven birdies. His putter ran hot over the back nine to come ‘home’ with a score of 31 off the stick.
The runner up was Brian Judge (scratch) with a score of 40 points. Judge’s final four holes were spectacular registering birdies on 15, 17 and 18 holes plus an eagle on the par four 16th. Scratch winner was Justin McCann (+3) who had a mixed bag with three bogies, a double bogey, seven birdies and an eagle on the 16th for a score of 68.
Winner of B grade was Olwyn King (16) who has had a busy week playing in the women’s club championship with the extra golf doing her good registering a score of 39 points. She counted out runner up Leo Murnane (18) who also recorded 39 points. Best B grade scratch score went to Carlos Garibotto (10) with a score of 81.
