There were great shouts of joy that even drowned out the neighboring go kart races and echoed all over the Lithgow Golf Club. The shouts belonged to Chris Keller, a four marker who is a keen golfer of many years but had yet achieved the rare feat of scoring a hole in one. He picked the right hole to score his first ‘ace’ when he holed out on the par three 18th during Saturday’s stableford event.
He not only picked up the obligatory bottle of scotch but also took out the Pro Pin that had grown to $325.
The A grade winner of the stableford with the best score of the day was Gary Wallace (5) who amassed 39 points following his two over par 74.
Runner up was Greg Jackson (9) on 38 points while the best scratch score again went to Justin McCann (+1) with a score card of 70 that read 16 pars and two birdies.
Best in B grade winner was Dean Stafford (11) who counted out runner up Les Barnes (17) after both carded 38 points. Best scratch score went to Al Mostyn (11) with a score of 81.
Neil Hutchinson (22) turned in the good score of 38 to take out C grade. He finished one better than runner up Carol Burton (34) who carded 37 points on a countback. Best scratch score of 91 went to Olwyn King (20) who has been on a roll of late.
