Results Week Ending 7 December 2024

One of the Lithgow Golf Club’s major events was held on Saturday which was a lead up to the following day’s Lithgow Open.
The championship is known as the “Grub and Munzo” trophy with the sponsors being Eves Lithgow along with a host of friends of the popular pair who passed away way to early.
One of the sponsors “Darky” Millar said: It was amazing to see so many players turn up in what was a very ordinary day.
“It just goes to show the esteem that the large field held for Munzo (Peter Newham) and Grub (Brian Whichelo).
“Thanks to all Munzo and Grubs’ friends and Eves Lithgow for sponsoring the championships and it is good to see that the day continues to honour two former golfers and good friends.”
The scores were extremely good considering the rain that blew in and out all day with a couple of holes almost unplayable due the water on the greens. The best scratch score was registered by Steve Hall (+2) with a brilliant round of 67 which included six birdies. His round was all the memorable as he played early in the morning when the rain was at its heaviest. Runner up was Damien Marjoram (+1) who was one of the major sponsors through Eves Lithgow and is a past winner of this event. Marjoram finished with a score of 69 off the stick. The best handicap score of the day went to Tony Oldfield (3) who teed off late in the day enjoying the best of the conditions. Oldfield finished with the excellent score of 65 nett which included six birdies and a double bogey. Runner up to Oldfield was Don Wolfenden with 70 nett.

B grade: Josh Jones (11) took out the best scratch with a score of 83 with the runner up voucher going to Michael Bennett (12) with a 86.
