There was a big field of golfers contesting a two ball best ball versus par event with the Lithgow greens in great condition although some of the pin placements really tested the players putting ability.
Such was the toughness of the course that only two golfers played to their handicap with a score of par. The winners were two of the club’s biggest hitters in Rod Bright (4) and Adrian Sharp (12) who combined to perfection to amass a total of +8. When one was in trouble the other came to the fore. Bright was returning to golf after a period out due to rib cartilage trouble but showed good golf to finish on -3. His partner Sharp is enjoying a purple patch having won an event only a couple of weeks ago and he amassed the score of -1.
Runners up on a countback were Corey Osborne (10) and Brendan Roach (11) with the pair finishing on +7. Osborne had a personal score of par and Roach finished with -2.
A single event was held in conjunction with Robbie Millar (17) the winner. He has been away for a number of weeks travelling the world and returned to play consistent golf to register a score of par.
Runner up on a countback was Anthony Oldfield (2) with a score of -1. Oldfield had to count out four other players who also finished on the same score.
Vouchers went to pairings on +3 ocb and those players were Brodie Carter, Riley Cameron, Rob Hawes, Graham Dean, Josh Jones, Damien Marjoram, Max McCann, Justin McCann, Jai Osborne, Dean Stafford, Mitchell Wallace, Andrew Burton, Travis Cameron, John Murnane, Josh Howarth, Dallas Tilley, Ken Mitchell and Neil Hutchinson.
Nearest to the pins were: 2nd Dean Stafford (193cms); 9th Lachlan Roach, 13th Mike Saville (590cms) and 18th Steve Mays (245cms).
Next Saturday’s event will be a two ball aggregate stroke.
