There was another big field who contested the Lithgow Golf Club’s two ball stroke aggregate event with conditions very good for scoring.
The greens are in excellent condition with many starting to adjust to the added speed while others are still struggling and at the end of the day there was only two golfers that bettered their handicap while eight others played to their handicap.
The event was dominated by four of the club’s veterans showing that they are still competitive against the younger set. The winners were Ken Durie (28) and Dave Hicks (16) with the pair combining for a score of 145 nett. Durie played consistent golf with 50 strokes on each nine for a personal score of 72 nett.
Hicks also played well with one over his handicap. Runners up were Dave Titcume (6) and Dave Muir (24) on 146 nett. It was a good day for Titcume who again showed his consistency and accuracy with nines of 39 for a total of 72 nett. Muir also played well to play his part with a 74 nett.
There was a single event held in conjunction with the two ball and the winner was John Bird (7) who stormed home over the back nine to finish with a 70 nett. Bird finished his back nine with a one under par 35 and will have good memories of his last golf game for the next month as he travels overseas to China. Beaten on a countback was runner up Dennis Wallace 8 who also carded a 70 nett and he had nines of 38 and 40.
Vouchers went to teams with 153 nett and better and they were Leonie Hughes, Carol Osborne, Jason Murray, Justin Nelson, Harry Bender, Chris Keller, Paul Bosman, Jeff Geddes, Josh Howarth, Luke Brown, Don Wolfenden, Ian Downey, Max McCann, Justin McCann, Mike Saville, Brian Giblett, Riley Cameron, Graeme Osborne, Robbie Millar, Blake Bender and Damien Marjoram.
Nearest to the pins were: 2nd Dave Titcume (126cms); 4th Don Wolfenden (86cms); 9th Harry Bender (70cms); 13th Don Wolfenden (286cms) and 18th Graeme Osborne (134cms).
Saturday’s event will be a medley stableford.
Monday Vets:
Paul Bailey (17) was a clear winner with a score of 38 points.
Runner up was Glenn Campbell five back on 33 points.
In third position on 32 points was Brian Giblett.
Vouchers went to Dave Titcume, Dave Dowler, Clint Brain and Steven Mays. Cut was 29 points on a countback.
Nearest to the pins were: 9th Alex Blackett (320 cms) and on the 18th Brian Judge (104cms).
Wednesday nine hole PFD Food Services competition:
Winner was Brian Judge on 21 points. Runner up was Carlos Garibotto who counted out Max Nightingale after both finished on 18 points. Vouchers went to Chris Goodsell, Ken Mitchell, Ron Phelan, Ian Townsend and Warren Kennedy. Cut was 15 points ocb.
Nearest to the pins were: 2nd Brian Judge (161cms) and Carlos Garibotto on the 18th (230cms).
Friday’s Central West Leak Detection and Plumbing nine holes competition:
Winner was Brian Quick on 21 points. Runner up was Don Farnsworth on 20 and in third place was Mark Seckold on 19 points.
Vouchers went to Greg Guest, Darren Hunter, James Bennett. Michael Bennett, Graeme Osborne and Adrian Sharp. Cut was 16 points ocb.
