A big field turned out for one of the Lithgow Golf Club’s major events — the Drummond Golf Penrith Winter Cup. Drummond Golf has been a good friend to the club since joining forces with the Lithgow Club and their staff have always welcomed Lithgow golfers to their store and offering their expert and friendly advice to the Lithgow ‘shoppers’.
The Winter Cup was played in three grades with trophies for scratch and handicap.
The winner of A grade was Steve Hall (1) with a score of 71 nett.
Hall has won just about every major event that has been staged at the club and again showed his experience and skill to score two nines of 36 strokes which was a great score considering the difficulty of the course. Runner up was Mitchell Luka (7) with a score of 74 nett. The A grade scratch was won by Justin Nelson (scratch) but he had to survive a countback from runner up Harry Bender (+2) who also finished with 73 off the stick.
The B grade handicap was won by Ben Fraser (11) with a score of 71 nett and he too was involved in a countback with Jason Murray (12) who also registering 71 nett. The B grade scratch went to Scott Achurch (10) with 82 off the stick with Ryan Gurney (10) runner up on 83.
The C grade nett went to Shane Milne (22) who is a relatively newcomer to competition golf and he played good golf to finish with the best nett score of the day with 70 nett. The inform Julie Rosewarne (30) was runner up with 74 nett. Best scratch score went to Steve Jennings (20) with 94 two better than runner up Julie Murnane (20) on 96.
Vouchers went to Ben Achurch, Jeff Geddes, Brett Nightingale, Darren Healey, Brian Judge, Lachlan Roach, Leonie Hughes, Luke Oldfield, Riley Cameron, Connor Milne, Brendan Roach, Anthony Oldfield, Robyn Houlison, Damien Marjoram, Riley Gillespie, Blake Bender, Neil Hutchison, Bill Oldfield, Bryson Jones, Max McCann, Greg Jackson, Ken Mitchell, Ken Durie, Steven Mays, Dave Thompson and Leo Murnane. Cut was 78 nett.
Nearest to the pins were: 2nd Julie Rosewarne (385cms); 4th Brendan Roach (700cms); 9th Ken Mitchell 190cms); 13th Ben Achurch, and 18th Krystal Griffiths (165cms).
Wednesday Sparks Finance – Mortgage Broker Lithgow Competitions.
Nine hole competition: Winner was Brett Egan with 21 points. Runner up was Connor Milne on 18 and in third place was Brian Judge on 17 points.
Vouchers went to Jeff Geddes and Warren Kennedy. Cut was 16 points ocb.
Nearest to the pin was Wayne Morris.
The GA 18 hole winner was Dave Titcume on 32 points.
Friday Central West Leak Detection and Plumbing nine hole competition:
Winner was Trevor Cameron 19 points on a countback from runner up Chris Keller also on 19 points.
In third place was Ross King on 18 points.
Vouchers went to Dave Thompson and Michael Saville. Cut was 16 points ocb.
