The winner of B grade Matt Dickson (14) enjoyed one of his best days on the golf course when he broke his handicap by a massive nine shots during Saturday’s July monthly medals that were again sponsored by Henry’s Plant and Equipment Hire. Dickson’s round of 63 nett was seven shots better than the next best competitor and he will certainly have his handicap cut but judging by his recent golf form he will certainly be able to handle the reduction.
He started off on fire with a par 36 strokes on the front nine and then came home in 41 for a score of 77.
His score also gave him the B grade July medal while the other grade medals went to Ian Downey (6) in A grade and Cameron Hann (26) in C grade.
Downey recorded a nett score of 70 starting his round off with 40 on the front nine and then stormed home in 36 strokes for a round of 76. Downey edged out runner up Harry Bender (+1) on 71 nett with Bender’s round of 70 featuring five birdies which was the best scratch score of the day.The scratch score award went to Blackheath’s Bill Oldfield (scr) on 72.
Runner up in B grade was Rod Clarke (18) who is always not far away from the placings. The B grade scratch went to Darren Healey (11) with a score of 83.
It was a happy Heidi Inwood (25) who was back to her best form with a score of 70 nett. She played top golf over the back nine coming home in 46 strokes to set up her win. Runner to Inwood on 71 nett was newcomer Cameron Hann (26). The C grade scratch of 96 went to Gordon McLisky (21) from the Leura Club.
Vouchers went to Krysten Griffiths, Dave Thompson, Matt and Steve Hall. The cut was 73 nett on a countback.
Nearest to the pins were: 2nd Andrew Griffiths (200cms); 4th Dean Stafford (136); 9th Matt Dickson (163cms); 13th Justin Nelson (136cms) and 18th Ian Downey (58cms).

Nine hole competition:
Winner after a three way countback was Craig Holt who was successfully brandishing his new set of irons. Runner up was Ben Sabat and in third place was Al Mostyn with all three placegetters finishing on 17 points.

Nearest to pin was Steve Jennings.
The GA 18 hole competition was won by Ken Mitchell with 33 points from runner up Peter Dykes on 32 points.

Winner was Mark Bennett with the big score of 24 points.
Having a good week was runner up Craig Holt on 21 points.
In third place was Brendan Horsfall on 19 points.
