The early heavy rains scared away a number of golfers that were ready to play in Saturday’s single stableford event, but later in the day the sun came out and so did a big field of seventy seven.
The event was split up into three grades and 19 golfers played to their handicap or better.
The winner of A grade was Anthony Oldfield (6) with a score of 39 points. Oldfield played consistent golf with nines of 37 and 38 strokes. Runner up was Brett Nightingale (7) who surged home over the last four holes. He recorded a two pars, an eagle two on the 17th and a birdie to finish with a score of 38 points.
B grade went to Les Goldspink (10) with the best stableford score of the day, an impressive 42 points consisting of two nines of 38 strokes. Runner up on 40 points was Brian Bourke (13) who looks to be getting back to some good form after his recent operations.
C grade went to Greg Bright (20) with a score of 40 points and he showed some good footwork on the back nine for his 21 points.
Runner up was another newcomer in Hamish Matthews (23) and he too had a good back nine in his 38 points.
